Drex Patterson, RA

Principal Architect


Drex interned, prior to receiving his degree, with Shankar Nath Rimal, architect to the King of Nepal in 1972. In 1976, he enrolled in Pratt Institutes Rome Study Program. He worked under the direction of Glover Thompson with the USVI Housing Authority (HUD) in 1979 on St. Thomas, USVI. He established Island Architects in 1980 on St. John and practiced until 1989 when he relocated his family to San Diego, CA. Here he worked with Don Edson Architects from 1989 to 1990, and in 1992, as founding partner, Drex reestablished Island Architects with his business associate Tony Crisafi in La Jolla.

Drex lives with his wife and their dog in La Jolla and enjoys cooking, biking, traveling, yoga, art, and enjoying the beautiful town around them.
